Munnar Trip

After around six months I am again back to touring. I had to spend a lot of effort, money and time to bring my comet back to proper running condition after the Himalayas trip.
So now that it was complete I wanted to start going on trips and I got a three day weekend to do so.
I and Arjun were already having talks for going to Munnar and Prabhu was also interested. I thought of including my brother too for this trip now that he has his own bike (Yamaha FZ16). Also it was his birthday i.e. 27 March. I asked him if he is interested and he agreed to join in.

After a couple of days Sunil sir also told me to go for a 3 day. Then we decided to club the two plans and all of us would go to Munnar.

So here are the riders for this trip:
1. Sunil (Comet)
2. Sumit (Comet)
3. Prabhu (Comet)
4. Srikeerthi (Karizma)
5. Ajay (Karizma)
6. Arjun (Pulsar 200)
7. Jenson (Thunderbird)
8. Mohit (FZ16)

The route taken:
Day 1: Bangalore - Hosur - Krishnagiri - Dharmapuri - Salem - Tirupur - Udumalpet - Munnar
Day 2: Around Munnar and Devikulam
Day 3: Munnar - Udumalpet - Palladam - Satyamangalam - Chamarajnagar - Mysore - Bangalore
Date: 27 - 29 March
Total Kms clocked: 1155
This time only pics and no boring trip logs of mine :)

Also check out the Prabhu's Blog link for the same trip.

All in all a good trip to break my monotonous life of home to office and office to home routine.
It was nice touring with my brother Mohit who came for the first time solo on his own bike.
Hoping to continue going on more trips in future too depending upon my schedule and yeah my budget too :).........

Day 9 Tso Moriri - Tso Kar - Pang - Sarchu

12 July 2010 Day 9 Tso Moriri - Tso Kar - Pang - Sarchu

So a new day and new route which I was about to take. As Nam Gayal told me the route is all jeep tracks and long (120kms + 30kms till I reach Sumdo) hence starting early was the ideal option. I had told Nam Gayal that I'll be leaving early and asked him what would be the ideal time. He told me he'll prepare tea for me and I can leave 7AM and I can cover the distance till Pang or may be Sarchu all in daylight.
I woke up at around 6, packed all the things. The previous night I had started the GPS on my mobile to check the altitude of the place and I forgot to switch it off. By morning it had drained the battery quite a lot :(
I quickly put the phone on charging, I called in Nam Gayal and asked him to prepare tea for me.
While the tea was being prepared he gave me a little tour of his house and told this is his ancestors house and his family is staying here since ages. I had tea and clicked some pictures of the lake:

After tea I …

Kargil to Leh (A Different Route)

Important Notice: While on the trip out of goodwill I had shared my pics with some of fellow travelers. It might well be possible that you might see my pictures that are shown here, posted somewhere else on the web too. It was not very wise of me to share my pics without proper attribution (watermarks) done, but if you do see such pictures please report it to me.

Day 6, 9th July: Kargil to Leh (A different route)

So a new day a new destination and I am loving it. Got upearly packed up things, spoke to the guest house owner so that I can pay him and start my journey. I casually asked him whether the roads till Leh are good or bad. He said there are construction works going on the route before Lamayuru. New road was being laid and they were using explosives to clear out the way which meant if I reach the place at a wrong time I could get stuck for hours there.
The guest house owner suggested me to take the route from Batalik. He told the road through that place is really good and on…

Day 11 Leh to Hanle

Disclaimer: All the photos posted for this day have been captured by Sunil sir and Chethan.
I have watermarked the pictures just to save piracy and not take away credits from them

So from today we were a little eased out less worried about the bikes because as stated in earlier posts that this leg of the trip we would be covering on the scorpio.
We started our journey towards Hanle via Chumathang valley. The route to Hanle is from Karu from Leh. We had to cover around 250kms for the day. We had planned to stay in Hanle for the night since we already had got the permits for the same from Bangalore. And the next day was allocated to Chumur and if possible Tso Moriri.
The route was a mix of good and bad roads with the Indus river flowing besides the road. As we were heading towards Chumathang Valley, we noticed the change in flora and fona of the place. We saw big green trees unlike the other places where apart fromo grass and small bushes almost nothing else one can spot as greenery. May be…
